A Flood is bad... but it is not the end of the world:

Water damage is a serious business. And while we hope that it's something you never have to experience, if you do, bringing in the right company can make all the difference in the world.

Barbara, our client in East Boise, Idaho, was having a normal day on a Wednesday, but when she arrived home from work, she found that her entire kitchen had flooded while she was away.

The damage from the water resulted in the entire kitchen needing to be replaced.

Pictured below is the kitchen as it was before the flood caused water damage.

Barbara immediately shut off the water and got in touch with her insurance company which connected her with a restoration company.

Restoration companies specialize in water and flood damage. They tend to be experts in flood damage situations.

While many companies in the valley do great reputable work, the restoration company Barbara was connected with was not so wonderful.

This company had poor communication, they didn't show up on time, and they weren't presenting themselves as a company that was going to provide a top-level kitchen replacement.

1. Turn off the water

Stop the flood in its tracks. You can do this by turning off the water. Water shut-off is usually located in a closet, just inside a crawl space, or out on the street in a manhole.

If you have trouble turning off the water - call an emergency plumber!

2. Call your insurance company!

Insurance companies deal with floods all day! They will connect you with a remediation company and get help to you right away! Follow their process and find out what will need to be replaced and fixed!

3. Ask the insurance if you can use your own contractor for the repairs.

If a replacement does need to happen, you may have the option to bring in a reputable company of your choice to do the repairs. If this is the case we recommend bringing in a company you trust so you know you receive the best quality replacement.
